Piano Lab Overview

The Piano Lab at Mann provides an exciting opportunity for students in grades 6, 7, and 8. The study of piano has many positive effects on a student. Piano training enhances a student's concentration, confidence, coordination, self-discipline, perserverance and self-expression. Scientists believe that music trains the brain for higher forms of thinking. The study of piano requires a student to exercise his/her eyes, ears, arms, feet, hands, all ten fingers and the brain while simultaneously reading two lines of music, counting time and reducing fractions to the 64th degree.

Through group study of piano, students learn from each other and find that they are motivated individually by the group. Group lessons help strengthen confidence in performing. During the school year, a child enrolled in Piano Lab will receive approximately 180 hours of piano instruction at no cost. Playing the piano is an enriching skill that one can enjoy for a lifetime.
